Janine lost her fiancé two months before their wedding day due to a tragic accident. She was understandably devastated.
To mourn his loss and honor his memory, she chose to have a photo shoot with her wearing the big white dress she never got the chance to wear.
Dressed in her wedding attire, Janine wanted to jump into the Riviera Maya, Mexico, as a way of healing her heartache.
Del Sol Photography’s Matt Adcock captured the memorable event, admitting he had never been more inspired in his 10 years as a photographer.
“After I heard Janine’s story, I really wanted to do what I could to create a magical adventure for her,” Adcock said on the Del Sol Photography website. He continued, “This is by far the most emotional I have ever been while working on a project. I was brought to tears when I started to bring the story to life in the editing room. I am humbled to have been able to meet and work with Janine and am inspired by her words and her courage in sharing her message of hope.”
The day was certainly very emotional for Janine, yet she explained on the Del Sol website that she felt more accomplished and alive than she had since May 1st – the day the love of her life was tragically taken away.
“I really felt that Johnny was smiling down at me and finally giving me closure that I can live my life in a positive way, but never forgetting why I was here.”
The beautiful bride knows she isn’t alone in her experience. Sadly, many men and women have lost their fiancé or spouse before (or even shortly after) saying, “I do.”
Janine commented on this and said it is important to take time to process the loss and allow yourself time to grieve and figure out how you are going to move on with your life.
Janine also believes one should not completely withdraw from society.
“You have the right to cry and you have the right to be alone (but not too much alone). If you are close to family or friends lean on them.”
Janine has one more piece of advice for those mourning a loss:
“…try something new! When I did this photo shoot I had the best time. I actually had fun for the 1st time in 3 month since Johnny passed away. Reach out for help and never apologize for your actions because you are strong and you will get through this!”
A picture of hope and healing, Janine’s story has already inspired so many who have had to endure a similar fate themselves. The comments listed on the Del Sol Photography page attest to it.
This emotionally charged interview gives you an even deeper perspective on how this unanticipated journey has shifted Janine’s outlook on life, and how it has strengthened and inspired her to live life to it’s fullest:
We hope this tragic love story encourages you through any sorrow, pain, or adversity you may be going through. Know that you are not alone, that you are so loved by those around you – even if it doesn’t feel that way. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is always hope.
